A Great Teacher Makes All the Difference

It’s been 5 weeks that Momentum lab has been launched, we’re almost halfway through the journey and I feel like I can share my feedback and experience, in case anyone is interested in what’s been brewing in the Lab :))) First of all, I absolutely love the personal approach and feedback that François gives to each participant. Each of us has different goals and different blockages on the path of mastering French, so I really appreciate François digging deeper into identifying what my problem is and providing very focused exercises and setting measurable goals, that help me to see and track my progress. You don’t know what you don’t know. During this course François helps to see your own blind spots. Once the core problem is identified, it becomes something that you can work with and get it solved.

Before starting the program we were asked to make a short intro video. It took me 4-5 takes, lots of preparation, embarrassment and mistakes to get it done :)))) At week 5 we were asked to make a similar video, and I was able record it in one take, with very little preparation and hesitation, and I sounded much smoother and fluent than before. I obviously see the progress and I’m excited to see where the this program will eventually lead me :)

Exactly a week ago, I started attending The French Club sessions and have attended each session available under free events, the premium plan, and student-led practice sessions, just to see what was being offered. I have to say, I am yet to come across a platform with this kind of dedication and passion. François and his team have built not only a language learning platform but also a community that shares the same passion and love for the French language. Irrespective of the level one is at in their language learning journey, you feel welcomed and are given a safe and creative space to learn. You are pushed out of your comfort zone in a warm and friendly environment, in such a creative way that you don’t realize it and don’t feel intimidated. It’s just the beginning, and I am confident of acing the TEF/TCF, or absolutely any exam, with this kind of support.

I started attending these classes around 4-5 weeks ago and have to say François is an exceptional teacher; generous, responsible, and genuinely kind-hearted. He truly loves what he does, and it shows in every lesson. He teaches with passion and heart, and it makes a real difference.

The sense of camaraderie within the group is phenomenal. The community is filled with awesome people, which makes the learning experience even more enjoyable. And...there's Amy as well, who plays a key role in keeping everything organized. She manages the WhatsApp group along with François, shares class information, and provides ongoing support to both students and François and does a great job with that. They both wear their hearts on their sleeves, and it truly shows.

This has been a very enriching experience and will certainly continue my language learning with the group. Merci beaucoup!

J’ai commencé à apprendre le français avec François et au club de français. Je suis très content et je voudrais partager mon expérience d’aujourd’hui avec vous.

A unique quality of French Club and François is to offer variety of sessions that suits everyone’s own needs, level of knowledge, and interests. There are semi-private sessions, starter and premium plans and of course the free sessions.

Today, I attended the Written & Oral Comprehension Session for the first time, which is part of the Starter Plan. I didn’t know what to expect or what the format would be. It turned out to be one of the best experiences I’ve had.

First, all levels are welcome to attend, and François very effectively manages to make everyone participate in a way that suits their level. Everyone takes turns; reading paragraphs, interactively answering questions, and translating a paragraph from French to English and vice versa. There is no pressure, mostly on a voluntary basis. It is nice that François also calls names and kindly invites students to participate, and sometimes gently encourages them to try a bit harder than their level. While one person is reading, the others can follow along on mute and have time to look up vocabulary or take notes and learn from each other. At the end, the text is shared so you can review it later.

This session is such a valuable immersion experience if you are looking to accelerate your learning and enhance your written, oral, and comprehension skills.

In The French Club, I have found a community of like-minded Francophiles who support and encourage each other on their French-learning journey.
I took the A1 class in spite of having learned French primarily on my own for the last five years. I thought it was important to have a refresher on the basics to aid me in reaching my goal of being able to speak at a DELF B2 level. In one of the early classes, François made a comment: “Perhaps you are someone who has been studying alone in your basement for years. Why not join others and learn together?” After being a solo learner, I thought I could benefit from a more structured approach. I’m so glad I discovered The French Club.

As someone who didn’t like grammar, I came to greatly appreciate the depth of the lessons François prepared for the Masterclasses on essential topics. The curriculum for the courses and these classes often span 100-plus pages with detailed explanations, which was just the thing that I needed most to help me reach my goals. I have never seen a curriculum or books that provide the type of in-depth explanations and examples like the ones François has written.

The thing I like most about The French Club is that there is something for everyone, every day of the week. Whether it’s a class or an event such as shadowing, dictation, Raconte-Moi une Histoire, or the Fun French Talks, there is an opportunity to connect, learn, and grow. The vision of a thriving community of French learners where we can express thoughts, ideas, and share our talents and passions had me sold.

François has graciously given his time, talent, and wisdom, sharing precious anecdotes from his life. I greatly value that these lessons go beyond just speaking French; they give insight into his character and motivation, which go beyond just being an excellent teacher. I've seen other members of this community following his example, blossoming and sharing their talents and knowledge on other subjects with the same fervor. 

François, thank you for answering the call not just to be a teacher, but an exceptional leader, visionary, motivator, and friend.

À moi, le French Club est vraiment important. J’y rencontre de nouveaux amis et j’ai l’occasion de pratiquer mon français chaque semaine. Le professeur, Monsieur François, est excellent pour enseigner la langue française. Il explique les sujets de façon claire et utilise l’anglais au besoin, ce qui facilite la compréhension pour les étudiants.

J’attends les cours avec impatience. J’espère qu’un jour je pourrai visiter la France avec François et mes camarades de classe. Depuis que je participe au French Club, je me sens plus confiant et j’apprécie beaucoup les occasions de parler en français. Je sais qu’avec le temps, la grammaire deviendra plus facile pour moi.
