Hello and welcome to The French Club.

We are a fast-growing online French learning community. This community was started on Meetup and boasts over 8,000 members globally.
We offer French classes from absolute beginners to those who are more advanced. Our most popular course, the A1 course, is completely free. We believe that fast progress is made when a student has a supportive and empowered community behind them. This is why we offer many events for you to get to know other students while practising your French.

We have assisted many students on their learning journey with our growing French ecosystem. We primarily see that students fall under these three groups below.

The Three Types of Students We Assist

The Level-Advancing Busy Adult

These learners have a lot to do each day and need something that can provide tangible results for the limited time they have. They don’t casually dabble and want a system that takes the confusion out of what to learn.

The Canada Exam Candidate

Results-oriented learners. They want a certificate with a B1-B2 proficiency and a standardized pathway to get there. They want exam structure, timing, strategies, and repeated practice under constraints.

The Community-and-Confidence Builder

While they aren’t as attached to hard deadlines, they want to make progress and are looking for different ways to practise what they’ve learned and feel a part of a supportive and encouraging community.
Meet our founder and senior teacher

François Normandeau

François saw these three groups struggling to get what they needed from current French offerings and started the French Club in response to that struggle. The French Club was a way to provide something he saw missing in the French learning world: a clear and structured path to French fluency, alongside a warm community where adults felt supported, understood, and encouraged.

This desire was born from the time he spent teaching French at a university south of Barcelona, where he witnessed first-hand the transformative power of a well-structured, encouraging environment. Since then, he has gone on to complete over 5,700 lessons on iTalki with a 5-star rating.

Christophe Meuneviseth

Salut! I’m Chris, a native French tutor born and based in France. I believe learning a language should be fun, effective, and stress-free. Having lived in Taiwan for six months while learning Mandarin, I know exactly how intimidating it can be to speak up—I’ve been there myself! That’s why I create a relaxed (sometimes challenging), zero-judgment space where it’s okay to make mistakes. Whether you’re a beginner or prepping for an exam, I’ll help you find your confidence by keeping things simple, cultural, and human. So, let’s start this journey together!
